The collapsible, sprung card case is marked with the patent number PAT 16201.It carries the sterling silver, Lion Passant, mark, the hallmark for Birmingham and the date letter for 1948, as well as the maker’s mark J.C.V for John Collard Vickery. The spring mechanism keeps the case flattened, until the sides are squeezed, thus raising the sides and opening the interior. It shows signs of wear with some dents.
